Canon's newly formulated 8-Color LUCIA EX ink set increases the achievable color gamut by approximately 20% more than previous imagePROGRAF 8-Color printers and provides for smooth color gradations, improved scratch resistance and minimized color shifts.

Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop

This export module allows 16-bit image processing, preserving the expanded color spectrum and high gradation of the original file. The Print Plug-in reduces the possibility of incorrect settings, by providing an integrated interface for print settings in Photoshop and the printer driver, enabling efficient production.

Print Plug-in for Digital Photo Professional

This export module allows users to directly process and print RAW image files from DPP. This plug-in bypasses the operating system's dependent print driver, allowing processing of 16-bit RGB images directly, which dramatically increases gradations and as a result, overall image quality.

Media Configuration Tool

Recognizing the expanding array of media options for large format printers and to further improve the versatility of these new imagePROGRAF models, Canon's Media Configuration Tool not only allows customers to utilize Canon-branded media, but provides the ability to make adjustments to printer settings to enhance the precision and quality of output achieved with third party media.

Settings that can be configured using media parameter adjustment features include:

160GB Hard Drive

A built-in 160GB hard drive within the printer increases productivity by relieving workload from the host PC, while providing a large capacity for print job data storage and retrieval. This 160GB hard drive enables job data to be stored in protected mailboxes for easy access via web browser or at the printer for job re-printing. The embedded hard disk is ideal for medium to large workgroups to share a printer efficiently with multiple users, offering sample job storage space. To ensure security of your files, there are is a quick erase mode, high-speed mode, and a secure erase mode which meets to U.S. Department of Defense requirements (DoD5220-22M) for erasure of disk media.

Fast Print Mode

The Fast Print Mode produces 1200 x 1200 dpi output on coated and uncoated paper stocks while reducing ink consumption by 10% to 20%. This mode regulates the use of Photo Cyan and Photo Magenta inks to produce quality output at a lower total cost.

Fast Economy Printing

Significantly reduce total ink consumption by approximately 50% by utilizing the Fast Print Mode with Economy print option for producing draft prints on select media. This feature increases overall speed and regulates the use of all colors to produce quick check plots while minimizing the cost per print.

Sub Ink Tank System

Canon's unique sub-ink tank system means you can replace ink on-the-fly without stopping the printer. Choose extra large 700ml ink tanks for even greater productivity.

Proof Mode

The Proof Mode gives users in proofing environments the ability to create quality prints with exceptional detail. Designed to deliver a level of quality a step above the previously available print modes, Proof Mode gives users more choices when creating prints. Reduce excessive thickness in text and fine lines while reducing the misrepresentation of colors produced.

Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager (PC only) serves as a powerful feature, used for accurate management of printing costs and other information that is increasingly important in today's economic environment. With Accounting Manager feature you can track how much ink and paper is being consumed when printing large format output. Costs can be assigned to the ink and paper to determine expenses based on your own "Cost of goods". Each individual ink tank can have its own cost associated to it, as well as a variety of different paper types. The user can also input a variable cost that will be added to the total of the print cost. The data is exportable to a .csv format for Microsoft Excel so the data can be used for billing purposes. This feature will allow you to determine the cost of each print based on your actual cost.

Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office

This utility (PC only) makes it easy to print large format documents created in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. The plug-in appears in a tool bar inside the Microsoft application and has an easy-to-follow "Wizard". The plug-in will bypass the printer driver to simplify the printing process. A few simple steps convert your 8.5" x 11" office document to poster size.

Built-in Calibration

This printer is equipped with the ability to easily reset back to the original optimal factory settings and apply any necessary adjustments across all the printer's media types or for any single third party media type in just minutes. At the same times this creates a stable, predictable printing platform on which superior results can be consistently achieved. The system has built-in calibration sensors that help compensate for adverse environmental conditions while providing a predictable platform for color management and consistent color reproduction, from machine to machine. This calibration technology is enhanced by notifying users when a calibration should be performed.

Enhanced Body Structure

Enhancements to the printer's frame allows for more accurate dot placement on the media, ensuring crisp text, fine lines and smooth transitions. At the same time this provides for overall quieter operation.

Intuitive Control Panel

With an intuitive design, the control panel on the imagePROGRAF printer helps make printing easier than ever. The large, bright, and easy-to-read LCD screen has four graphic tabs for paper settings, ink levels, job information and adjustments. The tabs can be viewed "at a glance" with more detailed information just a touch of a button away. The panel is equipped with a navigation function that illustrates printer instructions. Users can follow easy illustrated steps to load paper, replace ink tanks, and other operations. This control panel also includes one-touch functions, such as Feed and Cut buttons, making the imagePROGRAF printer easy-to-use right out of the box.

Canon Printer Driver

This Windows® and Macintosh® drivers incorporate simplified page setup options, one-touch borderless printing, expanded color settings, and much more into a printer driver that is intuitive and easy-to-operate while still giving even the most advanced users the tools needed to stay productive.

The Real Preview feature lets users ensure that the print setting and the layout on the roll paper is correct by providing real time preview, allowing users to change the print setting even after clicking on "print." The Free Layout feature enables nesting and custom layouts of images or files of nearly any type (available for both Windows and Mac driver).

The imageRUNNER Enlargement Copy feature built-in to the printer driver lets users transfer data from their Color imageRUNNER device with Universal Send to the imagePROGRAF printer - all with the touch of a button - enabling users to easily create posters from hard copy documents.

Canon's included PosterArtist Lite (PC only) poster creation software gives users the ability to quickly and easily create professional large format prints. Users simply follow the program's four (4) easy steps to create posters that can be used in applications such as office presentation, trade shows, retail signage, and much, much more. The PosterArtist QuickCopy feature provides an easy solution for a CanoScan desktop scanner to be used as a copier, making letter-size flyers and documents into full-size posters with a touch of a button.

For those with more demanding poster creation needs, Canon's optional PosterArtist offers advanced features such as Auto Design, Variable Data, and in-application image editing features, as well as additional templates, royalty-free photos, and clip art.
